Electroplated Tools
Electroplated tools are tools in which diamond or CBN superabrasive grains are fixed in a single layer onto a metal core using nickel electroplating.
Because of their high grain concentration and large grain protrusion, these tools deliver exceptional cutting performance.
They enable high-efficiency machining of difficult-to-cut materials such as ceramics, cemented carbides, and hardened ferrous metals.
Since the abrasive layer is precisely electroplated to match the base metal (core), even tools with complex geometries can be manufactured with high accuracy.
This process allows for flexible shape design tailored to specific applications, even in small production quantities.
When the abrasive grains become worn after extended use, re-electroplating is possible as long as the core remains undamaged.
By removing the worn electroplated layer and reapplying a new one, tools can be restored to near-new performance with short lead times and lower costs, as there is no need to manufacture a new core.

Super abrasives for power tools

Electroplated Tools with Super Abrasives
Super abrasives refer to diamond and CBN abrasive grains.
In I.G.W.’s electroplated tools, we use synthetic diamond and CBN.
Synthetic diamond is an artificially produced diamond that, like natural diamond, possesses the highest hardness of all known materials and is widely used as an abrasive in a broad range of applications.
CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) is a material with the same crystal structure and the second-highest hardness after diamond.
Compared with diamond, CBN offers superior heat resistance and low reactivity with iron, making it suitable not only for machining difficult-to-cut materials but also for high-speed grinding of ferrous metals.
